Hiring for programming languages doesn't make sense anymore
Not the way it used to, at least

Leveling up in any language is way easier than it used to be.
With an LLM copilot by your side, any syntax or code you are unable to understand?
Just ask it to explain it to you like you are a beginner. Right then, and right there.
Need help generating some code?
Done.
Don't understand some of the parts it generated? Ask it to explain that you.
If you have got a good grasp of the fundamentals of programming, that puts you in a good place to program with pretty much any language these days.
Especially if its for a similar skillset, e.g still doing backend, frontend or devops (or whatever you usually do), but just in a different language.
Cause all languages are made of the same bits and bobs, they just look a little different, each with their own quirks and styles.
Even going cross skill sets is much than it used to be .eg moving from backend → frontend, or devops → backend.
A software devs more important role these days is making sure the overall structure and design of the code based as a whole is looking ok. Something AI's can still struggle with.
But different programming languages are no longer the barrier they once were.
As long as you know the right questions to ask.
